mines pretty revvy too, maybe that's just the way I drive.

Does anyone know what the rev 'dots' on the speedo indicate for engine speed?

Mine feels pretty revvy too... but again I think it might just be the way I'm driving it.

awesome mod, though you lost me once you get to moding the tacho bit will have to get the parts and try my hand at it.

I was wondering if it is at all possible to use an aftermarket taco with a shift light rather than mod a mk1 unit.

The reason i ask this is because i use biodiesel and have been contemplating setting up a simple water and methonal injection system. If an after market taco with an adjustable shift light that would act as a sensor to turn on the water injection would be awesome so that the system only works part time at high rpms...

I am currently playing around with water and methonal on a mercedes 300D using the auto kick down switch which works ok, however if you kickdown and the revs have not built up it nails for a bit before it gets going. I am using a 97 commodore windscreen washer bottle as i was told they had the most pressure. and i am playing around with cheap misting nozzles from the gardeing section at bunnings.... so far i have spent around $25...

Since installing the water injection on the merc a few weeks ago it does seem a little quieter, easier to start... aswell as a bit more get up and go... Id love to set one up on my Mk1 golf.

And again thanks for the awesome write up.

Ok for those interested parties here is a quick wright up of my water/ meth injection system.

This is the Automatic Transmission kickdown switch under the accelerator

This is the splice after the switch which activates the washer pump when the switch is pressed.

Here is a 97 commodore washer bottle tucked under the cold air intake. The yellow knob is the flow control valve so that i can adjust the amount of injection. I have set it up so that it sprays just under 300mls a minute. I grounded the neg side of the washer pump under the cold air intake.

After playing around with a few nozzles (i.e. different brands) i found this POPE nozzle from Bunnings.

And a close up of the nozzle.

I tried to do get the tacho working with a PIC once. You've done it with all the existing gear. Good stuff!
