Yeah, the DMF for them is pretty pricey. I'm not aware of any sort of SMF kit to suit the DSG.
As for the starter motor, what's wrong with it?

You will be pushing **** up a hill to get a SMF for a DSG. I have seen them made for petrols with DSG's but if you put one on a Diesel with a DSG you would probably stuff the gearbox in no time.
As for the starter motor, who told you it probably stuffed the flywheel?
A starter motor will not wreck a DMF.

Slow crank, is probably why. Common issue with the TDIs.
I'd be inlcined to leave it be, for now. If it starts to cause issues down the track, it's only a 20min job to swap out.

It's only a 20 minute job to swap out the DMF?
The mechanic has told me that often a faulty starter motor can lead to the DMF failing and losing it's spring due to the vibrations on a slow startup. I've had battery issues before that have apparantly caused issues to my starter motor and in turn the DMF. This is what I am being told at Volkwerke
No, the starter is a 20min job.
