well have done an oil change 25w-60, should be thick enough, changed the oil filter, put in a high tech ghetto catch can (see photo below). havent had the problem happen again, lets just hope it was blow by stuff. thanks for all your help guys!

Quite agree about the round rings/oval bore thing.
That was the problem I had with the rebuild years ago that gave so much trouble.
The customer actually came in and measured the bores himself before instructing me to just rering the GLD. He wore the cost though and all was good.

yeah mate, that looks right, good work.
you can also try putting a "t" into it and a 't' into the hose from the crankcase to the vaccum pump, and connect them (a later factory revision does this).
