Definately blow by. Have seen this many times over the years.
When I drove my US caddy ute down from Sydney and used 14.5 litres of oil on the way (!) I had a catch bottle setup to prevent tis exact problem.
Oil rings are usually the culprit.
Years ago I re-ringed a customers GLD under his orders not to rebore and go oversize pistons. It was hard to start and smokey so I took it out on a local highway to settle in the rings but it "deiselled" on its oil. Back to the workshop where I stuck a different brand of rings in it, still was the vsame so it eventually got a rebore and larger pistons. That car went like a dream afterwards and 15 years on it is still perfect. Go the catch tank/bottle for the moment I would suggest, while you think about stripping it.
