kaanage,My last VW was a MkV Pacific. The Mk V1 103 kw is quiet and more refined the same as the 125. Don't get me wrong though, I think the Mk 5 2.0 tdi is a great motor, economy and powerwise, just that the CR motors are softer, with the same performance.

Ah! That makes sense. Our friend's MkV Pacific TDi, though a better car in some ways than our MkVI TDi Comfortline, has a much more 'diesel' feel to it (rattly idle, big lumpy low down torque, runs out of puff if you try to rev it). My 9N3 Polo TDi has the same feel (well, it revs out HEAPS better on the current map).

I thought you might have compared the MkVI TDi Comfortline to the GTD before buying (since your original post said you had a Pacific).
