    GT TDI Stalling

    Hi Everyone
I have been a member of this forum for quite some time, but this is my first post. Unfortunately it is to discuss a problem. Firstly my car is a Golf V GT Sport TDI DSG, which I think is a terrific car and has been faultless up until now. I've had the car since new. Now to the problem, yesterday as I stopped at an intersection the engine just stalled. It was the first time it has done this, but has over the last couple of weeks on a few occasions given the impression it was abut to stall. Has anyone else experienced this, if so what was the cause?

    Thanks Mario

    Welcome Mario,

First thing on these modern cars is to get the diagnostics checked - they can hold resident fault codes & even store the time / date / conditions where the fault code occurred.

Could be anything, and its not common (we have tuned about a dozen of these & never had any reports from customers).

    Good luck!

my mums comfortline tdi stalls very very rarely... like once every 6 months if that. i think the dsg just gets caught off guard sometimes.

Definately odd, and I'd also vote it's probably a DSG thing, the only time I ever stall my TDI is when the pilot stuffs up the clutch!

If it does it again, just pop into the VW service centre, most of them can run a quick diag while you wait as it will be a warranty issue.

I had my exhaust warning lamp come on, took it in, 5 mins later drove out with the lamp reset, after it happened again they just booked me in to investigate further.

Have you just seen Symos post in the Premium Diesel section about "bad fuel" stopping a GT TDI sport? Perhaps you two should talk??

Would it be related to DPF regenerating?

That has to happen periodically and if it's not fuelling the engine properly to do the burn, could it cause a stall?

    TDI Stalling

Thanks to all of you who replied. It is quite strange, The car has not done it again but every now and then when I stop, the engine appears to,what I can best describe have a little stumble. Any way thanks again.
