I received my 103 TDI wagon 2 days ago so I've only put 100 Km on. I notice that there is a little vibration/resonance around the 1500 RPM mark. I can see the image in the rear-vision mirror become a little blurry. But it's only a very small amount of vibration. Once the radio and A/C are on I don't notice it at all.
That said I'm just a car user, not a mechanic.
I'll have a look one day to see if the CV heat shields are on.
My Skoda 125TDI has the same issue and I initially thought it was the exhaust resonating but we put it up on a hoist and there are no loose baffles etc in the mufflers and the exhaust heat shields are in good condition. I will put it up again and have a better look at it to see what is what by running it on the hoist and try and locate it that way. I first noticed it when driving slowly looking for a parking spot and it annoyed me and still does.
Have any of the posters with problems had any success resolving this problem yet ?
Mine goes in to the dealer in the morning ......
2007 MKV TDI Golf Hatch
2011 MKVI TDI Golf Wagon
Went in to see the dealer this morning about this issue plus a few other minor things.
Outcome was that is easy to produce the vibe sometimes but not others. It seems to be an exhaust type drone - like a V6 commodore with a big crap sounding exh.
General concensus it that it might be doing DPF regen when the vibe is at it worst. The car has only done about 3K, so we will monitor it and have a further look at the 15K service.

I recently drove a 2011 build Passat 2.0 TDI (125kW) and it has the same resonance in the 1400 - 1600 RPM range.
It doesn't appear to be as pronounced - probably because there is more sound proofing in the cabin.
Also, the engine management system seems to keep the revs above the critical speed before changing to higher gears.
Dear gds
Did You find a solution for this issue... my 2012 Golf Variant 2.0 TDI have same problem with resonance from 1200-1400 rpm.
VW can't/won't help.
