Geez, that price makes me cringe for such a small component, even if its job is important! Well, yes I do prefer German made things but if the Malaysian part works better than the German part, well I'd prefer the Malaysian one

It does control the lifespan of a $3000 part - the flippin DPF!

I'm on my third one, so $200 down now....but I *did* break the last one...

Well I suppose it's price is justified then. But still...

Exhaust pressure sensor (the one to do with the DPF)

Ok, so thanks again to everyone's help with my possible problem. Below are two photos, the first one is the new sensor fitted to my friend's Touareg and the second photo is the sensor of my polo. They both have different numbers. Ideas?

(The last digit on the second photo is '3' if you can't see it)

That's the Bosch part number, not the VAG part number.

I didn't even think of the actual manufacturer, silly me. Where is the VAG number located then?

Sorry, you're probably sick of my questions by now but, do you think/know if there would be/is any difference between '059 906 051c' and '059 906 051a'?
    Thank you,
    Alex.

Same part, but calibrated to suit different parameters.

Yep, different DPF sizes for a start I would think.

The only way to tell for sure is to get a Vag Com Cable and follow the guide I will type up today / tomorrow on how to monitor and diagnose your DPF. If the switch is playing up you will get more frequent regens, but so too driving style, fuel, oil, and any other sensor playing up can put the ECU into a "mileage" cycle so it regens more often to protect itself, rather than do it when it actually needs to.

The MK6 cars may be slightly different to the MKV writeup I will do, but I can't see it being particularily so, pressure difference, load, and ash levels are the key parameters to monitor in any particle filter.
