My vote is a EGR system metal pipe flange down below/behind the DPF ahead of the steering column. If it's leaking there should be a nice black soot coat on the metal nearby, that's what I would be looking for. The EGR pipes in VW are prone to cracking on the bends where the mandrel leaves tooling marks, mine recently split, but then I did subject it to a lot of experimentation.
I wonder if the MK6 has a problem in the EGR cooler setup, much like the 103 did over the 125 in the MkVs. The Audi A5 3.0 TDI engine almost always eventually has the EGR cooler leak and play up, seems to be a likely place to check for failure.
