Maybe I didn't explain it correctly. Is the flogging of the engine related to keeping the catalytic converter free from clogging up? That is probably what they meant when I was told about flogging it.

Btw, where can I have a Provent 200 installed and at what cost?

The EGR and Flap cost me about $1400 supplied and installed at Muller and Muller at Lakemba.

The flogging is to keep the turbocharger vanes from getting jammed with buildup of soot.

$1400?? Good grief! I have the same light on - a VCDS scan by a very helpful forum member gave a TPS inconsistent reading code so I was fearing this would be the cause. At least I know what to expect
Meanwhile, the car runs just fine.

EGR flap can be had from ebay uk for about $150 used, and darkside developments have them too from memory. Dead easy to swap out.

I did have a look around at eBay and agree that there probably was a more cost effective way of obtaining parts.

As I did have the Dub from brand new and wanting it on the road asap without the warning light, I decided to have it fixed and was aware of the possible $$$ involved. Even with the warning light on though, I did not have any driving/performance issues.

Thank you all heaps for your replies and suggestions, it is much appreciated.

The PD ones are cheap but the CR EGR flaps cost 3 times as much
