    Egr take off for provent on 103tdi 2012 engine

    Hey Guys
    Could someone elighten me as to where the take off points are for a provent on the 2012 engine please.
    Thanks

    My Provent 200 install in a 125TDI for ideas:
    \( O ) o\====(\X/)=TDI=/o ( O )/ 2011 Jetta Mk5 125TDI - Squidly

    ((o)(O))====(\X/)=TDI=((O)(o)) 1996 Golf Mk3 TDI - Squid

    Hi Thanks for replying
    its the corrugated tube around the 3/4 inch diameter and about 8 inches in length? I can see the return from the provent goes somewhere near the waste gate..any chance of a more detailed photo?
    thanks

    You are correct - but it is slightly differnet for some diesels pretty much same location.
    On a Mk6 GT Diesel I have seen the PVC engine outlet turn 90 deg and point back to the firewall.

    Here is mine before I took it off. Pipe is short and goes directly to the intake pipe to the turbo:

    Here a closup of my Pipe work for the Provent 200:
    \( O ) o\====(\X/)=TDI=/o ( O )/ 2011 Jetta Mk5 125TDI - Squidly

    ((o)(O))====(\X/)=TDI=((O)(o)) 1996 Golf Mk3 TDI - Squid

    Hi And thanks for that. I got confused when i read the egr thread and by page 17 or so i saw an installation that used 23mm id hoses and they went to a completely different spot, I can now surmise it was a different engine. What did you use to get on to the outlet? There seems to be an intricate clip over the corrugated hose. I have some 19mm id silicone heater hose (blue outer with a red inner) and i scored a 135 degree (degrees as in angle not celcius) heater hose about 4 inches long so i can hook around instead of using 2 elbows. I am almost sure my 103 is different with the take off point. I will take a photo tomorrow and post it. I am really keen to fit the provent asap as i can almost hear the grunge getting in the bearings and piston rings...it seems to be further toward the cam wheel to the left of the engine.. is that possible?. i remember figuring that it was pretty straight from the outlet of the egr to the provent (which is in the same spot as yours ie hanging off the battery tray) and I bought the 135 deg hose so i could hook up the inlet tract bit..
    If you assume that your egr is at number 4 injector (actually a bit past it) what is the exposed opening I can see above what seems to be between no1 and 2 injectors? It looks like a hose is off
    Oh and can i make the universal correction in that it is the pcv that I have misnomered as the egr.
    What is everyone taliking about in the really long thread then? Are there more exhaust gases being pumped into the inlet tract elsewhere?
    Update: I think i figured it out.. the provent prevents the oil from mixing in with the soot from the egr... correct me if I am wrong

    Ok... EGR and adding a Provent are 2 compleltly differnt systems - but they are related in the fact that the oil you collect from the PCV system with the Provent does not enter the intake and then mix with the sooty exhaust from the EGR and then clog up your intake.
    We atre basically trying to reduce both.

    The PCV is the Positive Crankcase Ventilation. All the oil vapour blowback air pressure inside the engine has to escape and this is via the PCV - and due to emmisions this gets plumbed back to the intake before the Turbo to get reburnt. This is unpresurised system.

    The EGR comes off the exhaust manifold then gets plumbed back into the intake at the intake manifold. Depending on the cars it can be directly like in my Mk3 Golf TDI, or cooled via radiator cooler like in my 125TDI Jetta. This is a presurised system

    Anywho... The Corrigated tube comes off by squeezing the outer ring revealing barbed pipe, from memory 25mm tubing fits - and if you look at the Provent200 it is also 25mm
    I used the elbows as it was cheap and allowed differnet angles and close radius turns, all the PVC clear tubes runs are pretty straight as they pinch closed when bending. It is also light weight.

    Using Silcone hose is expensive and is heavy and pretty inflexable.

    The holes you see in the PCV casing are not holes or missing pipes, but access ports to bolts underneath.

    Hey
    Thanks.. i kind of figured out what is being achieved here. I got given 2.5 metres of the silicone tubing and it isnt too stiff to be honest.. its only 19mm id though
    i will take a photo or 2 and post it
