I'm all ears Greg???? I know you're toying with your sports DPF option but how far away is this?

End of year I reckon. I do have some trial cores in transit, and will need to do a lot of testing to get the right mix of flow vs soot released, then add a "delete" tune that turns off the DPF functions and regens, yet combines an emission lowering function as well. Quite a mix of things to play with, but thankfully Viezu are world class in their emission lowering tunes, a major reason why I became a dealer in the first place. The exhaust out the back can only have very minimal particulates to be legal, and I am confident this is probably do-able for the MKV's that meet Euro V.

The Mk6 cars, well, that is a whole different challenge, as the particulates became almost non-existent, so there's little chance of that happening any time soon. Will probably need two high flow DPF's in series in reducing porosity. I'll need to make some cash out of the MKV cores to fund that level of testing, need to get my hands on a MK6 TDI etc etc.

The whole aim is no illegal soot out the back, yet no more active regens, far less restriction, and higher tuning potential overall. A DPF that never clogs, lasts the cars lifetime, and no more regenerations!!

It's why my entire life at the moment is putting up Viezu tune pages, to get more tunes, to fund DPF development.

You would freak if you knew what I am concurrently developing for the diesel market, but it should be a cracker. Nobody at all knows about that one, but even if that alone works, well it will be happy days. My biggest problem is I dream real big, then have to work out how the f#$k to do it!

If you manage to get a high flow DPF for the Mk6, then you've already got one sold for an Octavia vRS.

On the topic of soot, if you sit behind a Kia Sorento CRDi and watch for soot, there isn't any (I had one)
No DPF either... I know that for a fact, it blows soot when its running out of fuel and the engine is chugging. (Was emergency in the bush - unavoidable)

I'd be more than happy to do a DPF delete on my car - and indeed plan to - because I expect there to be little to no soot in the first place... Also, dat noise.

I had a ride in DkNs car and it definitely blew a **** load of smoke but I believe he got that fixed. A good tune should never blow that much smoke, there is a smoke limiter map in the ECU which limits the fuel injection quantity. If that map is increased too much then yes you will get ridiculous smoke.

In response to the original question, this part has me worried
"YOU WILL ALSO SAVE WHEN COMES TIME TO SERVICING AS YOU WILL NOT NEED TO USE SPECIAL LOW ASH MOTOR OIL THAT IS NEEDED FOR THE DPF … A SAVING OF AROUND $150.00 EACH TIME. NOW, JUST USE THE SAME OIL THAT IS USED IN THE MANUAL VERSIONS"
Wtf, no way am I using a different oil. Why would the oil in the "manual versions" be any different.

Who the hell said you will change away from low ash oil? Unless they pour oil into their DPF to lubricate it?

    For the uninitiated, read this
