    Dismal DPF!

    Just wondering if anyone has encountered issues with DPF Regen in POLO 66TDI's?

    I have had to clean the DPF multiple times (sometimes within a few days), but only have 7k or so on the clock.

    The car gets its usual long trip, as requested in the manual. But i seem to be doing this more then i thought i would have to. I was buying Diesel from 7-11 originally, and through some research discovered that i needed to be quite particular with my fuel selection, considering the DPF. I am now fueling up with BP. The problem seems to have improved a tad.

    Considering i am new to driving Volkswagens, a Diesel, and only discovered the DPF after my purchase, i am just a little concerned if this is the norm or not?

    There's been some discussion about this in the Polo 6R forum but it seems to have been a bigger problem in the UK (and possibly the European mainland) where there have been many complaints about the rough running and poor economy due to the frequent regens. The lack of really low (just off idle) torque in the 6R TDi compared with older diesels seems to me to be an attempt by VW to force drivers to use higher rpm, which should reduce soot levels, in order to protect the DPF.

    Thanks Kaanage. I will suss out some of those threads and see if i can find some more info.

    Just seems bizarre to be doing such regular regens of the DPF when i have barely put any kms on the clock. I feel as though i am following what is suggested in the manual to the tee, but still feel as though something is up. The fact that i have also read people clocking up 60,000 before having to do there first regen is also making me believe something is up.

    Asked some questions at my local Dealership, and got the typical "watch where you fuel up", and "watch your driving style". Didn't seem interested at all.

    Could it maybe be a dodgy sensor? ECU upgrade required or something?

    Get the DPF pressure sensor checked.

    Is that sensor a known trouble maker?

    Yes it is. Especially the earlier one were.
