Always use a good diesel additive it will pay for itself.

But for these who trade in when 3 years are up, don't worry too much about it, do what the owners manual says in regard to maintenance.
You use an additive for every tank fill? What's this additive for? How much does it cost and why a specific one for DPF cars?

Yes, every time I fill up.
To keep the fuel system clean.
From $15 to $25, some are concentrated and will treat on average 600L of fuel. You want to make sure that they're compatible with DPF.

I use WURTH CRD Additive if you have DPF and Diesel Additive without DPF. All above are good I use them.
Have you had any experience or heard from others about the diesel fuel additives by HiFlo or Redline?

    No.
Redline is quite expensive and as long as what I use does a good job, I don't have a reason to change to another brand.
I also use InterJect petrol and diesel additives. InterJect Interjectron additive for petrol is absolutely the best additive I've ever used, I'm using it for +10 years now.

Yeah but how can you tell that an additive is doing a good job?

It doesn't seem to prevent DPF regens on our 103kW MkVI Golf when using Drive mode.

Do you intend to drive back by the Hume Hwy? It would probably help run in if you went a more circuitous route like the Monaro Hwy via Princes Hwy.

From my experience, observation and from continuous questioning.
I use them everyday in many different makes and models and my customers are happy customers.
I also use them in our family and friends cars and I always ask many question before I service them. My T5 after 80,000km has the same fuel economy as when it was new and it is running really well, the engine is very quiet compared to some T5's I saw and there is not much smoke on start up when cold.

Absolutely, come home via the hills in a new car, make it work, those first few hundred k's are vital!

Well ok...bought some "fuel Doctor" today and will give it a go. Mine has recently shown quite a reduction in Fuel economy so maybe this stuff will help. Funny that the directions on the bottle don't specify how much to add - it just says add 25ml to a tank but doesn't specify what size tank.
