I have just installed a new fan belt on my Mk1 diesel and its just a bit too long. Does anyone know what the correct length should be?

fan belt? which belt do you mean sorrry?
do you have a standard GLD rad or???
i think he means ancillary belt.. commonly known as fan.![]()
have you adjusted it? alternator bracket?

oh one other thing - ensure you have the correct width belt. you might need a thicker one to effectively shorten it a bit.

ancilliary, yes. The alternator is at the limit of its travel. A larger V of the same length would do the trick, thanks Ayden!

cheers, dayco have the part, the part number for future ref is "13A0900"
That number may not be correct, its what I have on there now but the dayco website states "11A0940"
Any ideas?
