What is the confusion with the 103kw? It also applies to any 103KW PD (Pumpe Duse) not CR engine as used in the Passat, Golf, Jetta etc. If not sure call VW or your dealer.

Purely the safety issue. The 103 has a Bosch ECU system, and can see which injector is dead, and just shut down that cylinder. The 125 kw Siemens cannot differentiate, thus stops the engine totally. I am very aware 103 injectors fail too, but in my opinion it's not as big a safety issue, they do keep running, albeit poorly, on 3 cylinders. It is a much smarter design, and what VW have returned to totally in the current MK6.

According to the reporter, VW have agreed to reimburse people who have paid to fit these affected injectors.
Look out for your letter people!!

Isn't this recall more about the Mechantronics in the DSG rather than the injectors?

That'd be a few years back now, because they've been replaced for free for as long as I can remember.

May have been a case of opportunistic dealers.

Be interesting to see how that letter allows the ACCC to give people who have paid for replacement injectors the ability to seek compensation, as happened in the UK and other euro countries last year.
Did she say anything about it being a recall on the injectors, I have only seen news items referencing the 7-speed DSG. Also how will they know second hand owners addresses..?

I got a letter saying if I have a 7 speed DSG built after September 2010 then they will call me to book it in.

Do they even know what I own?!

It was never made public, was a dealer only communication. You also had to basically break down to get it done until very recently. I know of plenty of people who have had to foot the bill - heck most of them contact me! VW are apparently "going" to contact 4000 diesel owners about injectors, presumably after they deal with the much bigger DSG issue. This then makes it public, at long last. Was told this is what the main reporter got direct from Mr White.

    Hi guys,

What I am likely to have in my engine, injector wise? MkV Pacific 2.0 TDi. Build date 10/08.
I have it booked in for a checkup. So far done 40k without any problems, mainly city driving.
Hope it stays problem free as I really like the car and probably will keep it until it really will not run any longer.
Used to have a mk3 for over 10yrs without a problem. Hope this one be just as reliable.
