I think that is most peoples perception. I am in the heavy transport industry and we only refuel at very high turnover outlets and have proven the above perception to be dubious at best. I can show you the repair bills for motors going into the hundreds of thousands and which the fuel company involved paid for most of it. The fuel was obtained from multiple outlets which led us to question the belief that high turnover is good. One station sells far more diesel that petrol and our drivers have been threatened with death if they refuel there again and the owner is screaming as he just lost thousands of dollars a month. I don't think anyone knows if it is an advantage to refuel at high turnover stations as there is no way to prove it just gut feeling that it should be so.

Any diesel bulk tank installation should have a basket pre-strainer, a final filter and a water separator as part of the system before it is pumped into your tank.

The problem with diesel in particular is that there is a lot of substitution that takes place, and it is not easily detected by the person refuelling. It is not as easy to do substitution with petrol.

What happened to the little transparent bubble with the flow indicator that you used to see on bowsers? All fuels are specifically coloured, and apart from giving you a visual indication of flow, you were able to verify the colour of what you were putting in your tank. I also seem to recall that there used to be a colour chart so that you could compare colours.

So the price of the Ultimate is the same as their normal blend at my local, also imo when stepping on the gas, the difference between Ultimate & normal is not as notable as the difference between Ultimate 98 & 95.
I do appear tho to be getting a few more klms than normal. Will confirm that at the end of the tank.

My first tank definitely went further, but had an irregular driving week b/c of Anzac day etc.

    See how it goes overall.

    Doesn't feel faster though.

Apart from letting anyone know that the product is available, these threads are completely useless.

    1. Fuel usage is different for everyone.
    2. Every car is slightly different.
    3. No one can tell off the seat of their pants if a car is 'faster' or not because they've used different fuel.
    4. You'd need a PRETTY CONTROLLED dyno environment to convince me otherwise.

Negative.. they are guides, not completely useless.
1: Its either metro or country driving, stop start, or highway kays
2: Comparing the same models, slightly yes, majorly no
3: When you have experience, you know what your feeling, especially when those have been driving reflashed & modded cars for years n years. Besides, its not faster that you get, its more torque & pull, once again, experienced folks already know this.
4: Ive been on 5 different dynos up here, 2 of them give me the same numbers, the other 3 are close but no cigar.

Well, I dyno'd mine today and got 135kW/361Nm out of my TDI125.

Also, took off at a set of lights next to a vRS TSI DSG and he only pulled away once we got to a very decent speed... One that the boys in blue would not like.
Also have a BSI torque mount insert, but the difference with the BP Prem Diesel is very noticible.

Every tank now wants to go to 1,000km, too. With city traffic.

    1. Yes and some people feather their foot around the city and some people absolutely plant it.

    2. Enough that you can't draw any solid/consistent figures, because once again, it relies on point 1.

    3. Don't pull that patronising 'experienced folk' card. 'Feel' is completely subjective, if you filled a car with BP Diesel one time, then with Caltex Vortex and again with Shell Diesel and you did a blind test with an 'experienced' person behind the wheel, I'm willing to bet a lot of money that this 'experienced' person would not be able to tell what fuel was in what car.

    4. Your point proves mine 100% valid.
