    Injector clean

    Evening all,

    Just a question about injector cleaning duration... had the 45,000 done on the Golf the other day and the dealer suggested I get an injector service done.

    I know with petrol engines it's not a bad idea around now but have no idea about diesels.

    The dealer was great on the 45,000 service, had a few niggly things which were all taken care of under warranty. It has to go back in a few weeks to fit a gasket that they didn't have in stock & I said I would consider the injector suggestion & might get it done then.

    Am I being taken for a bit of a ride, is it too soon? Any thoughts?

    what kind of ''injector clean'' service? and how much are they charging?

    my mechanic (volkspower) simple dumps a bottle of diesel injector cleaner in the tank at every 15k service.. it's $20 bucks.

    i'll also put a couple of bottles in between services.

    this, and giving it the beans every now and then, should be enough to keep the injectors clean.

    Not really sure what type of clean they are planning... or what is required for a diesel - hence the question here.

    I use Interject equipment with Interject chemicals to clean the fuel systems it takes 45-60 minutes on TDI and at the same time the fuel filter is replaced. Your dealer would most likely use something similar, basically the engine idles when prescribed amount of chemicals is used.

    I don't do it on our diesel cars, since I use additive in the fuel tank 100% of the time.

    Hey Transporter .... in anticipation of my 1st VW diesel, what do you add to the tank so I know to get it as well. Did not care about my only other diesel ever, but I do care about the VW ....

    I use fuel doctor from supercheap and run bp ultimate with supposed inbuilt cleaners anyhow, if they don't pull them out and ultrasonic them I can't see that it would be any better than routine additives.

    I agree and I'm assuming they ultrasonic clean them as during the conversation he said the injectors are removed from the car. I have used additives but not religiously, I'm going to try and be more diligent from here on.

    I use Interject Interjectron (415Y) for petrol engines, I have Interject diagnostic and cleaning equipment (does petrol and diesel, it demagnetize injectors, like it more than ultrasonic).

    For diesel engines I use few different additives. My main one for PD engines and without the DPF is Moreys Diesel engine smoke killer, every 6 months I put bottle of WURTH Diesel additive or LiquiMoly SpeedTec Diesel in the tank. In CRD with the DPF I use only WURTH CRD Additive or LM SpeedTec Diesel.

    Now, why I don't use Interject as my main additive for CR (or PD) Diesel with the DPF? Interject doesn't state that their diesel additive is safe for DPF, WURTH confirmed to me that their CRD additive is safe to use in CRD with DPF and European dealers across Australia and dealers in Europe are using the WURTH additives, and what is more important; their formula doesn't change in Australia (Made in Germany).

    I know in the past there was a need, especially from an agricultural perspective, to use a diesel additive with an anti-algae\fungal property in it every now and then. We used to add it to the 2000L tank every time it was filled on the farm.

    But with "ultimate" and "vortex" diesel, is there still a need for this? If using a diesel additive, should it include a biocide?

    I can't find enough info on the WURTH Diesel Additive CR to confirm/deny a biocide. But there are a few which include it, but they don't say whether they are safe for DPF use....

    You still need to use the diesel additive (even more than before)
    I stock the WURTH products (some of them) and WURTH rep. confirmed me that CRD Additive is safe for DPF and they supply majority of the dealers in EU and dealers in OZ that sell European cars. It contains: no sulphur, phosphorus, metals or acids.
    I use it in our Touareg from new and have no problems, indeed my daughter that drives it 100% of the time never reported anything unusual that would indicate the DPF regenerating. (I use 2 bottles in tank every oil chnage - 7,500km)
