BKD check engine light - Throttle actuator

    Hi All,

    i have a P2108/P2100 fault code on a 2010 Skoda Octavia TDI (BKD i think, same as Mk5 golf 2.0TDI), 128000kms.

from web this is most likely the throttle body/egr valve being choked up with oil/soot. I'm going to remove and clean these parts on the weekend, is this likely to restore function and address the fault code or am I likely to need a replacement throttle? Any other relevant comments/advice welcome.

    cheers

    Matt

I should change the title to Inlet Manifold Flap Drive failure (or why my next car will be electric)

Part no. 038128063L is stuffed. Its just before the EGR valve and incorporates a butterfly valve and servo motor. The shaft seal has failed allowing oil into the servo controller, gears and motor (like everyone elses). The unit failed when two teeth sheared off one of the gears (like everyone elses).

The intake was relatively clean, no soot buildup. I suspect the fail open spring tension is a bit stiff plastic gears a bit light and maybe the crankcase oil has weakened the plastic.

Anyway, I am finding this experience somewhat disheartening, especially that a replacement part will cost $400-$500 and will fail in exactly the same way in another 100,000kms.

Install a catch can would help prevent any further damage by the blow-by oil. ie. ProVent 200

The part you are referring to is the more commonly called as the Anti Shudder Valve. If you aren't happy with the local part's price, try some online source. Parts over the Europe is cheaper than here. Personally I would go with the Darkside guys, good customer service, fast shipping and quality parts
