Hi guys,
I considering changing over my Octavia 2 VRS diesel(manual sedan, 76,000kms, 3year 8months), maybe for a used BMW 320D. My use is mainly freeway trips and I figured that the DPF has had close to ideal use. At a recent service I asked them to bring up the ash in the DPF and there is 39ml of it.
Does anyone have an opinion as to whether this is good, bad or indifferent? My thinking is that if I know that my figure is representative of the use the car has had, then if I get a ash figure for the used car I may buy, I can see if I'm likely to have DPF trouble in the future.
Or, is it a case that the engines that were designed for DPF use don't block like the early Octavia 1 diesels apparently did
What say ye?
I would think the latest diesel tech would be my priority regardless of brand with regard to DPF issues.
