My ****ty $100 filter has some surging, but only occasionally and it depends on the stress on the engine/outside temp
But as getjet said I had surging from airbox too, I think it's just how the diesels tend to be, well the 103kw versions

APR 2.0 TDI Carbon Fiber Cold Air Intake System - Running Problems

I also had this surging with the stock intake but it was no where near as noticeable.

My only thought is that it might be getting different amounts of air and it was throwing the EGR out?

Once i deleted the EGR from my tune and blocked the vacuum line to the egr valve, no dramas.
I was having the same issue with the BMC CDA. Tuned out the EGR and no issues with my aFe intake.

i noticed something today, it seems when im at very low revs there is some small surging but im talking 4th gear at 60kms. (grandparents in the car complaining that 2k rpm 3rd gear at 60 is to loud... )

Havnt had it anywhere else at any time.

I find boost seems to really start at 1,750rpm (which makes sense because peak torque goes from 1,800-2,500) which is also where the sexy sexy noise starts.

Anything under 1,750 takes time to build up the pressure... And sounds like a huge truck.

Yes you can make it sound very blow off valve like, and sound fuly sik bro in carparks. But it is embarassing at times. My Mum rags me about it all the time....but she is 70 : )
