hi all a few months ago I installed an aftermarket DPF filter (Brought off Ebay out of Germany) when they done the adaptation they couldn't get the car to do a force regen, now 10 days ago we had the engine and coil light come on and we got the codes saying the throttle body has a short circuit and is stuck open and only 2 days ago the DPF light has come back on. there is no error code for the DPF do you think it is just the throttle body and EGR tricking the DPF light or do you think the DPF may be no good seeing we couldn't do a force regen and over the last few months the soot has been building up and clogged the EGR? any help would be appreciated!
MK5 PD or MK6 CR?
You won't be able to regen without the EGR flap working effectively, well you can, but it requires some clever driving, not dropping the revs below 2000 at any point while regenning, nor maintaining constant speed, you have to be routinely on the gas as much as possible. It's very difficult to do, but can be done.
DPF not having an error is weird though, my gut feel is you have to sort the EGR flap no question, and get a forced regen happening. Did they adapt the pressure sensor and reset the oil ash levels? There's a bit to do for it to be happy, it's not simple.
You will need to sort the EGR flap, and the fact the workshop or Vag Com person could not force a regen means something is wrong or not hooked up properly, it should do that with the force regen code everytime no question.
