    Guys, why lay into Scotty? It comes from TDI club, and I'd have to rate that resource as one of the best for VW TDI's worldwide. Sure it may be a longshot, but there was no downside, and my MAF still has grease in it, no errors, and is running as normal. No loss really!

    Here I am putting mothballs in my tank, which is insane in theory, and risky even by my standards, yet to me, it works....and like Scott and his magic grease, if you want to try it, be it on your own head!

    It takes some lateral, forward thinking to advance, and I for one am all for people willing to have a go at the longshot. Geez, pop my bonnet sometime and behold many, many longshots.....half of which no doubt don't work, but it's working out which half

    It's all good Greg, that was just a suggestion not a "give us a prove or forever stay shut".

    guys there's no problems - i dont feel in any way whatsoever (honestly) that im being laid into - i merely wanted to share something that worked for me, and i had sincerely hoped that it would work for everyone who'd front the ~$5 outlay for the grease.

    i dont know what it would be - it might just be a 1.9 thing, it might only work with older computers eg edc15 as opposed to the med17 etc etc....

    it does work for me - i dont need vag com to tell me that since 2008 i've been only able to rev to 4300, and now it's 4800... and i will agree that much of the mods (especially in the polo gti context) that one can do to their cars is placebo and nothing more (seat of the pants gains directly proportional to how much money you've parted with), but based on the fact that the cage mod dates back more than half a decade on tdiclub, and has many happy customers, i thought it might work, and it did for me.

    if it seems to break the comms with the MAF, have you tried unplugging the MAF, seeing if thats the same?

    always good to play, if you don't break anything all you do is learn. Makes me want a TDI so I can play with a different engine

    scotty, what ecu does your polo have? (vag-com scan should be able to tell you somewhere or other.. i forget right at the moment).

    Maybe the 2 stroke in Scotty's fuel is having an effect on this too?

    Scotty, you, me and Josh should do some controlled testing at Dub Addiction one night. We can get Tim to scan logs etc before and after the mod.

    hi mate, sorry for the late reply - as far as i could ascertain from research (also in the context of remapping what computers etc) it's a bosch edc15

    that sounds like a good idea greg. it would be good to see exactly what the differences are between your car and mine, on the same map (fast road, of course, unless you've got the track map, but then we could do the comparo on that map too).

    I'm running fast road and Josh & I did some tests which showed there's not much difference between his GIAC tune and ours so we should have a good baseline for comparison

    did josh load a giac tune on his car for a bit? did he revert back to custom code?

    in terms of difference, are we talking parameters, or was the giac tune faster? (im sorry.... the simpleton in me keeps thinking of all the dyno days where giac wipes the floor with everyone else)
