Thanks guys.
Guess the expert view is that my 9N TDI is non DPF so that explains no DPF regen symbol illuminating so far.

I rechecked the dash lights for the DPF regen symbol but couldn't find it, I jumped the gun with my earlier statement.

@kaanage no haven't tried 2T oil mix in the fuel tank.

The last time I had anything to do with 2T oil was with my Yamaha RD350cc high torque two stroke motorcycle ages ago

Just checked the owners manual and noted the figures for the 74kw tdi non DPF & DPF equipped engines.
The fuel consumption figures for the DPF model ie 5.0ltr/100kms matched the official fuel & CO2 emissions label which was on the windshield.
Does this mean my 9N1.9TDI is equipped with DPF???
