You *should* be OK, seems the dodgey 125 injectors got a mid life revise, and only the earlier version is mainly breaking down. But this is based on a lot of heresay, VW are keepuing quiet, so no one really knows.

Do regular oil changes, and run good fuel - BP ultimate. I believe there is something in keeping fresh oil in it to prevent the seals breaking down, touch wood I do 7500 changes and am nearing 100,000kms now with zero drama, but yeah I drive around expecting it to go at any time.....

    Lol, thanks Greg.

Yes the car is a Dec 08 build, delivered March 2009. Its had three services to date, 15,30 and one now (dealer drove it 2k so made him service it!)

I do very large k's per fortnight (I was averaging 1300-1400k in the SV6) so I won't be doing the 7,500k services as i'd be doing services every two and half months....

From what i could find, the 2.0 in the CC is a common rail diesel, so should be ok?

The car will have double warranty (Swann through the lease (which is a Swann/manufacturer warranty) and I will be purchasing the VWA extended warranty in case I sell the car in the next 2-3 years.

    Cheers

    Darko!

My 12/2006 Passat TDI 103KW shut down in full flight w/o warning during a trip to the Blue Mountains with only 49k on the clock. Got towed to the nearest VW dealer in Sydney and was told to cough up $3.500 (!) to replace burnt diesel injectors. Immediately visited my regular VW dealership and the service manager there showed me a VAG note on his screen that VAG will cover burnt injectors for up to 7 seven years. Not even a goodwill request necessary beforehand.
He updated the repairer and I got my car back with $0 to pay.

My initial reaction was to get rid of the car asap but had to learn that the trade-in value for my Passat is only 1/3 of the price new.
Will keep keep it now but step up oil changes to every 6'kms.

oh wow.... does this mean VAG are not distinguishing between the piezo and solenoid injectors then? Sounds like it!

I do not recall the VAG note mentioning different injector types. He just type the VIN# and bang up came the note. According to the last service bill before the fault a "Diesel injector max service $180" was performed. Does not seem to have had a great effect.

    And on it goes

21/12 2006 passat coasts to a halt in a suburban st
4/1 I tell them what the problem is after reading up on this page....thanks, guys. Also say to contact John Hughes in Perth.
5/1 Mechanic tells me my diagnosis has been confirmed.
Today 9/1 I hear we have to get the car to Perth and it will be looked at "some time next week" under VW warranty

Waiting to hear from local company how much the 2 weeks of non-diagnosis is going to cost us
    she's in Perth!
We spoke to the owner and the mechanic here yesterday and were told that they had trimmed the price right down so it was only going to cost us $1053.00 not including the 350.00 freight to Perth. It DID include the wiring harness which I argued about telling them that was covered under warranty and showing them pages of print outs from the register on this page. We agreed to pay and if they get reimbursed they will give it back.

Got home to a call from the mechanic at John Hughes asking me for more details. After giving them to him I asked about the harness warranty and he said it is covered..OK!

5.30pm call from local mechanic telling me that after numerous emails to the parts manager he has been told the harness is not covered even though he's sent the old one down so they can see that it was faulty. THIS is the bit I am really unsure about but can only wait and see

My friend comes home on Monday so I will be carless but the local owner has told me I can borrow a car from them...sorry, I would cut my throat before doing that. I'm lucky that I have a job that gives me some flexibility even though I need the car to do it. Fingers crossed she's home before the 20th - 30 days later .

Some great info in yet another thread I found this morning...and the guy that dissected that Passat injector and wrote it up is on it.

Question: What causes the dreaded injector failure

It seems like VAG is now recalling cars with the problem in Europe -
