Heard a rumor that in the UK the price of injectors has dropped from about $400 pound to 130 odd, and if true may suggest some fairness coming into the market.
Well I heard from my dealer again today. They have repaired the injectors. VW told them to replace all four even though only one was faulty, so that tells me they are likely paying for it. The service manager couldn't say for sure as they have to send off all the paperwork or something.
I still won't get it back til next week though, the cam position sensor needs replacing too...

I have been looking at one of these cars (second hand) for the Mrs. I think ill pass after reading this. Trusty old Toyota might get my cash instead. A real shame, I do like these cars.
Get the 103kw PD. The failures for this model in this thread are not normal unlike the 125kw version where this failure mode seems to be an inherit property of the design.

Finally got mine back this afternoon! VW payed for the lot. The service chick just said it was "under warranty" even though it ran out 10 months ago so, I'm happy!
Needless to say after driving a HZ Kingswood around for the last three weeks I took full advantage of the back roads home from the dealership...

Great news! Seems VW *may* be starting to do the right thing.

4/1 I tell them what the problem is after reading up on this page....thanks, guys. Also say to contact John Hughes in Perth.
5/1 Mechanic tells me my diagnosis has been confirmed.
Today 9/1 I hear we have to get the car to Perth and it will be looked at "some time next week" under VW warranty
Waiting to hear from local company how much the 2 weeks of non-diagnosis is going to cost us
Just venting at the moment. I will put all details on when things have been finalised
Hi all! So am I right in thinking that post 08/08 build 125kw diesels are free of the injector problem? Reason I ask is that my new passat cc is a dec 08 Build / 09 complied car.
Just check if it is "Common Rail" or "Pumpe Duse". The newer "Common Rail" injectors do not suffer from the problem in this thread (and neither do the non-piezo actuated "Pumpe Duse" diesel injectors).

How does one check this? Pumpe duse, now that's a term I've not heard in a few years!
