I had the injectors replaced on my 2007 (one of the first in Aust) GT TDI Sport after a letter from VW asking me to take the car to a dealer to have this done. I noticed that there is no reference to this being done in the service book nor any evidence of a sticker on the car to indicate this.

Since then I have bought a Mk7 TDI and I'm wondering if I should give the GT TDI (it's done 67K) to my daughter to replace her 2005 TDI Comfortline which has done 120K. Seeing the injectors have been replaced the main other issue that could be a problem would seem to be the DPF Would the 103 TDI be more reliable in the long run?

Hi Greg, are they covering the 103? Or are us 103 suckers still told "they never fail"? The POS is gone (after yet another failure), wouldn't mind the thousands I paid for injector replacement.

Mate all I know is what Ms Fyfe, the Age reporter, told me that " the head of VW said they will recall the diesel injectors, and reimburse people who have paid for them in the past." Await the public recall, which I assume will happen soon once the bigger DSG recall is properly underway, and approach VWA. If anyone gets an official letter, please scan it and post the details, I know a lot of ex owners who, like harlie, would like a VW cheque for injectors, looms and labour!

    Hi all,

been away from this site for a while intersting to see whats been going on.
In referance to all of this, I had a failure with my injectors on my 08 Gt TDI.

I was suspect of my injectors having small issues, Took it back to VW (under
warrentie, and of course. All OK, no fault). A particular day, I was rear ended
on the freeway. An irate driver was playing smartass, basically playing chicken,
etc. Eventually I tryed accelerating out of the way and injector issue. I got
ramed and pushed off the Freeway. (Reported issue to Police, but usual
disinterest "He says, She says). I was covered by my inshurance, claimed againt
him. But car was going again. Much after repair, agian injector fail? But again it
did restart. The next morning, the car would not start. In a nutshell, Out or
Warrentie (by time, not millage). VW agreed to replace the injectors and harness.
All at no cost to me. This Im guessing was all about 6 plus months ago. I did call
Head office before returning the car, explaning the past issues and more. To my
    suprise they responded well.

Back then, I heard that there was a Class action in the UK for simlar issues and
VW lost? Funny how VW done all this out of warrentie for me, and after the UK
claims. Obviously VW is scared of such action happening here. Other issues, even
under warrentie VW had refused me. Main one being a DPF failure at ~75000 Km.
To be honnest , although these cars are great to drive and all that. They really
are overpriced peices or rubbish. Germam design, quality design and all that. Well
these cars do not live up to the hype. German reliability HA!

Since my car has been going well and now battery troubles again. Funny thing is,
Due to injury. I sold my LANDROVER to buy a new trouble free reliable car and guess
what? I will probly never buy a German car again (Twice bitten).

MKV 125kw GT TDI and Passat from late 2007- late 2009. It *may* also cover certain 103kw diesels from the MKV era as well, but the letter wasn't sent to 103kw owners as far as I know. You are best to ring your local VW dealer and quote your VIN number, they can look it up.

Thanks. Mine is a 2010 and has on one occasion almost shut down on me during a slow acceleration from about 10-15 kmh upwards. Engine near died and ran very rough with coughing and spluttering for about 4 seconds. Had me very concerned. That was about a month ago and hasn't done it since but can't seem to pin point the reason. Perhaps a bit of dirty diesel but surely the filter would have caught that.

Any body got any possible reasons. I called vw and they said my car is not a part of any campaign so hopefully it's nothing serious. Just out of warranty.

Oh no, 2006 Golf 103 TDi owner here.

Vehicle stopped suddenly in traffic and wouldn't restart.
Towed to dealer and they rang saying that 4x injectors and the wiring harness need replacing.

Rang VWA and they said that because the vehicle is not part of the recall they wont help with any of the $4500 cost of replacement for the parts.

    What to do now?
Logic tells me that all 4 injectors wouldn't fail all at once. It sounds like if there is a single failed injector and it is unplugged then the car should start and run on 3. If that's the case and the dealership can detect the failed injector then do I just get that one replaced and the wiring loom at the same time?

Has anyone else had the failure in their 103tdi that has been outside of the recall?

Can I keep on VWA case after they have said they wont help? Any tips on how best to do that?
From all the reading of the 23H9 campaign it has failed for exactly the same reason, oil in the injector circuit.

    Vehicle details:
    2006 Golf
    Model No: 1k116c/07
    Kilometers: 138,000

    Thanks for any advice.

Yes, they should be able to determine which one it is.

They gave me the same story when mine stopped – must replace all for 5k. I am sure the people handing out this advice don’t know it is a different system from the 125kw engines in the recall, they have a one fix for all.

    I just replaced one (#2) + harness. @106km

11 months later it stopped again, they said harness, replaced it again.

6 months later it stopped again, they found a fault with the engine harness, which I suspect could have been my problem from the start….
