    Oh thats cool, you may need it by the sounds of it!
    I haven't taken the head off yet, I'm planning to drop by the loon and borrow a spline tool to take off the head, I have taken off the rocker cover, and if the gasket isn't the problem I hope to get a different engine, but I won't know till tomorrow when i open it.
    p.s.(sat 13.01.07 12.43am) not a spline like in the books, the head bolts are hex in this one (when you drain away all the goop)

    FYI - everyone. be very careful when measuring piston projection above the block. do it accurately. also note that sometimes this itself is not enough, and the tolerances in the bearings from the main, big end, gudgeon can add up in one direction so that your piston is lightly tapping the head.

    please, always err on the side of caution. get a thicker head gasket if your not sure.... the lower ocmpression will only be a disadvantage on starting.. and will be better at all other times.
