+3 on Lakin brackets, Phil's customer service is excellent! I have the small plate holders and brackets on the front of my R36, I deleted the large plastic OEM plate holder and plugged the holes with scrivets that Phil supplied. Looks good, I'll go for a walk in an hour or so to the carpark and take a pic when it stops raining

    Hi

Just curious about how you removed the ugly OEM large plastic plate holder on the front of the R36? Its a hideous looking thing and I can't work out how to remove it. Is it held on with plugs, rivets, screws or what?

Are you able to show a pic?

    Take care...

You use a small allen key (or nail) to push the centre of the plastic lugs out and the lug will then just pop out:

Pic of the Lakin plate that has been painted to match body colour (the pics above show the original black) - sorry about the bugs (just got back from an interstate trip) -

Apologies for the delay, lots of rain and been hellishly busy with work this week! Here's a quick iPhone snap of the front.
    Cheers

Thanks so much! That's close enough to perfect for me.

The only thing that would make it just that bit better would be matching plugs rather than black plugs, but that's nit-picking.

Lakin plates - I'm in. Thanks again.

Keep in mind that Philip from Lakin plates can also do mounting plates with custom mounts/holes - you do not have to have the plate at a fixed height (if using existing holes). It can be moved around. Check out his website - he goes into a bit of detail about the different options available and you can see what other people have done (photos).

If you want to use existing holes but smaller plates, you can always get the exposed bits of the mounting bracket painted to match the car (like I did) - see second pic in post 73.
