    Wheel alignment on a new car

    I know this topic has been covered before in various threads, but I thought it might be worthwhile sharing how much my car's alignment was out, so others can determine if it's worthwhile spending $60 or $70 on a wheel alignment rather than a lot more $$ on new tyres.

    I took delivery of my car yesterday and got a wheel alignment done today (not at the dealer), with all corners out of adjustment.
    Below are the Toe-in settings upon delivery;
    FL: -1.9mm
    FR: -2.6mm
    RL: +4.1mm
    RR: -1.3mm
    As you can see my tyres would have worn prematurely, especially with a fair bit of "bum-steer" that was present on the rear corner.

    And BTW, i'm really enjoying the car after 5 Months of waiting and the stuff-up with the colour...... Don't have to tell everybody how it feels as most of you already know, awesome!!

    Take the print out into the dealer and you should be able to get them to pay for that. While it's not uncommon for the alignment on a new car to be out, it's not how it should be. 3 of my new cars have been out and all three times, the dealers have been apologetic and re-imbursed me.

    Thanx Rocket36, got it done as a freebie by business relationship. Was planning to take it to the dealer anyway, just so they are aware.

    When i was in dealerland, with Porsche, Audi and Dub we always done a full geometry check as part of the PDI. I hope this still happens???? They always needed adjusting too.
    Cheers

    New Car Wheel Alignment

    Interesting that the pre delivery sheet has a box "Steering alignment" ticked and signed by the dealers service department.

    Mine goes to my favourite steering shop Monday for an independent check and I am hopeful my steering alignment check was more than a blue pen tick.

    I want to be pleased to be wasting my money on the independent alignment. Will give me more confidence in forthcoming service.
    You know you are getting old when you cancel your order for a 3.6 CC and buy an Icelandic Gray TDI CC instead.

    Hmmm.... me too! Good opportunity for everyone's trusted wheel alignment recommendations. I'm looking for one out Melbourne side myself. Last time I went to a "supermarket"-style tyre chain they snapped a wheelbolt ! So, any recommendations for Brisbane & Melbourne please do let us know
