    Wheel Alignment

Can anyone recommend a good place to take my car for wheel alignment (Melbourne metero, preferably eastern suburbs). A wheel alignment was supposedly done at my 7,500 klm service at VW Sth Yarra yet when i took my car in for the 15,000 klm service to Volkspower they informed me that my fronts are wearing on the inside. My car has never been on unsealed roads, I always go quite slow over any speed humps or driveways & don't recall hitting any pot holes that I would consider significant enough to cause alignment issues.

It seems to me that cars nowadays need wheel alignments a hell of a lot more than the older cars, or this just a myth?

Anyway, any recommendation for wheel alignment would be appreciated.

    Take it here: https://plus.google.com/118127322119554163479

I nearly fell over myself when they did the wheel nuts up to specification with a torque wrench and used jack pads to lift the car so as to avoid damaging the pinch welds under the jack points.

They're tied with Burwin VW and do _all_ their alignment/tyre work. Highly recommended!

Take a full wallet when you get it done Mine cost $345 because of resetting sensors etc

It has the same extras as yours

I hate to say it but I think you might have been ripped off.

I already have a quote of $65 for my model. the optional extras I have on my car should play no part in the wheel alignment process. Sth Yarra VW charged me $66 previously.

If sensors had to be reset then I think that has more to do with the technician not knowing what they are doing.

    Fingers crossed!!

I didnt have to pay it was an invoice from one dealer to another as my dealers machine was out of action.

Was told that all the sensors for the Park assist have to be readjusted and set but Im only the owner so perhaps you could ask the dealer.

If its just an alignment shop I might respectfully ask Do they understand what the vehicle requires.

My dealer reckoned it was that and takes nearly 2 hours to do.

what sensors? pds doesn't need calibration.. the lane assist stuff only requires calibration and i dont believe you need to reset them at wheel alignment.

Only going on what I was told Could be incorrect but was asked to take it back to get done after 2000k and thats what I did.

When I got there the machine wasnt working so it was taken to another VW dealer who did it and gave me the invoice to take back to my dealer and that was the price on it..
Consequently I keep well away from gutters.

Thanks for the heads up Hillbilly.

I am still confused as to how the parking sensors have any influence on wheel alignment. As far as I am concerned that's like saying a wheel alignment on a blue car is more/less expensive than a red car. Very odd.

If the wheel alignment had influence over the overal turning circle then I can sort of understand as the auto parking might have to be re-calibrated.

I am going to quiz the guy at the shop tomorrow.

Im gonna monitor this thread. Just got my wheels aligned and no one mentioned anything other than wheel alignment.
My car has Active cruise, lane assist and park assist 2. Used the park assist after wheel alignment and i never noticed any different shouldn't the car cpu calculate the space and angle then feed it to the steering. If the steering or positioning of the car is off due to bad alignment the park assist radar should recalculate and try again.
