    What TPMS does R36 use???

    Hello

Looked at a few threds here but does anyone actually KNOW what the Australian R36 uses for TPMS - is it in valves or is it like the MkV Golfs using abs sensors etc??

Anyone actually changed wheels on R36 and can conform this please??

    According to the manual:

"The system uses sensors on the wheels. The radio signals from these sensors are transmitted to the tyre pressure monitoring system."

    And:

"If you wish to replace factory-fitted wheels, please ensure that the new wheels are equipped with sensors that are compatible... Each tyre valve is fitted with a sensor which measures the pressure inside the tyre..."

    You get the drift.

Some Passats have "Tyre monitor Display" (manual 3.3 page 65) that uses "data from the ABS sensors" but the R36 comes with "Tyre pressure monitoring system" (manual 3.3 page 67) as described above using sensors on the valves.

And there still isn't confirmation that the R36 does have in wheel TPMS as the manual may be referring to an overseas model. Has anyone checked the wheel, scanning the car using Vagcom/VCDS or seen one of the antenna's in the wheel arches to confirm that the R36 is using the in wheel TPMS???

The button inside the car is different for the two systems. The Aus R36 has the valve sensors system.
