Assuming it is an OEM Sat Nav, it should be an MFD2 DVD based Sat Nav.
    Does not play mp3s.
Should have a 6 disc CD stacker in glovebox.
    No AUX input.

Well that was how it was in my previous 2007 Passat 2.0T FSI.

MFD2 needs the CD for sat nav to work so make sure it is in the unit when you get the car. Last time I checked the CDs were several hundred dollars.

Head unit has one slot for DVD based whereis Navigation Disc.
You should have a 6 disc CD Stacker in the glovebox (Passat) or centre console (Jetta / Golf).

There is no Aux and you have to have a BT module installed to connect to it. It only supports the "basic" bluetooth which basically lets you answer calls only.
