I would also bet that ACC will be available as an option on the R36. The only thing I was disappointed I couldn't tick the box for.
I dont mind the new steering wheel, but nothing wrong with the current one. If you sit in a new GOLF or CC you will see that its all of the same style with the Chrome edge around the steering wheel buttons, the Audio / Sat Nav and the HVAC controls (Heat Ventilation Air Conditioning)

I wouldnt want the ACC. (I think) If it is like the system in the Benz's its not like ordinary cruise control that you can set at a certain speed for the boring freeway drives. A radar based Cruise Control system works on measuring the distance to the car in front and adjusts accordingly and thats all it does. (Thats my understanding from recent readings)

    Hi Apom,

The ACC works just fine, It is just like a traditional cruise control set and forget except thsat it keeps the speed you set actively. Say you are going through a tunnel with speed cameras, you set the cruise for 80kmh and it keeps that speed no matter how steep the road is (up or down)

It also of course slows the vehicle if somebody in front of you slows down.

Yeah with ACC you set the speed you want (on the highway for example) and secondary to that is setting the distance you want to stay behind a car in front.

Say you're in the left lane and there's someone slowly passing you, and a car in front of you going slower, the ACC will slow down from your set speed and maintain whatever distance you have set and match the car in front of you for speed and when you can, you pull out and it goes back to your set speed. It really is a handy feature IMO.

So HVAC is just an abbreviation for the controls? So they're just new controls?

    New HVAC...

    Is this it?

Because if it is, I reckon it's worse than what my R36 already has. Looks cheap and tacky. Maybe that's just me. I like the blue temperature displays for both sides and the dials for the heated seats, with 5 settings not three. Also a fan speed dial is nicer IMO than the buttons.

    And this steering wheel?

is ugly IMO compared to this...

The 7 speed DSG would be nice though... Anything that maintains performance and gives better fuel efficiency would be a good adition!

the audi 7 speed is a completely different unit.. it runs of a longitudinally mounted motor ( most audis run longitudinal instead of transverse ) and is completely incompatible with a transverse motor in a passat.

the audi 7 speed is a wet clutch 2nd generation of the 6 speed dsg gear box used by audi. the other 7 speed dsg found in mk6 golfs and skodas uses a dry clutch for low torque applications ( ie 1.4 tsi )

I'd say no 7 speed DSG (dry clutch) for the MY10 R36, but maybe for a Passat with a lesser engine. I believe in the UK you can get Passats with smaller engines and maybe this will go with the dry clutch DSG.
