    Cool

I think we can see that all R36 come with DUNLOP SP SPORT 01, even the Passat CC come with better tires [Continental ContiSport]. It's quite odd that the R36 come with DUNLOP and a lot of the other models in the VW range as supplied with the Continental brand.

Maybe R36s have a special size/load rating that the other tyre manufacturers didn't want to bid for as an OEM supplier (I'm sure VW will be buying on price).

Let's face it though, they do the job they're intended for quite adequately. Sure there's better tyres out there but there's nothing wrong with using up the OEM set before splashing out $2000 on tyres!

I can't agree that they do their job adequately on a heavy performance based car like the R36. Anyone that has taken evasive action with these tyres in wet conditions could testify to that, ESP can only do so much. At the end of the day though, everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

As for spending $2k on tyres, my families and the life of any kid that runs out infront of my car chasing their ball is worth far more to me than 2k each year. Then of course there is the smile on my face when going down my favourite windy road, easily makes the outlay worth my while. Cause of the Goodyears it's been a while since I've been truley happy with the car, but that will soon change

Pfffft... Whatever... you entitled to your opinion even if it's wrong. This is on OEM tyres with 500km on them and ESP OFF - grip was NOT an issue! I suggest some driving lessons if you're losing as much grip/traction as you say you are.

    lol

If your car didn't power on oversteer or understeer or 4 wheel drift when on the track with those tyres, you weren't pushing very hard. None of which I have been able to replicate using decent tyres.

The throttle is on the right, I suggest using it.

Insults? No insults here and I sincerely apologise if anything I've said came across that way... Just making the point that if you have grip/traction issues with the car as it comes from the factory then you aren't driving it correctly.

Mashing the throttle is not fast. Give me ANY car and I'll get power on oversteer or understeer - it's not hard. What is hard is to drive a car properly to MAXIMISE grip/traction. The second you lose grip/traction you're driving at more than 100% which is slower... Sure, better tyres will IMPROVE grip/traction which translates into later braking, faster cornering and faster exit speeds, and therefore lap times. But there's nothing wrong with the package as it's delivered.

Been in Motorsport too many years not to know what I'm talking about when it comes to this sort of thing.
