Hi guys
Can anyone tell me if only some Vw R36's have the Launch control option as I own a 2010 R36 and today went to my local VW service centre and he tells me with my VIN my R36 hasn't got launch control
Thankyou
Brad

I've got a late 2009 model and I have it. Easiest way I guess to test is to try it.
Scared the crap out of me the first time I did it, so do it in an environment that is I guess.. safe.
There's a few threads on the forum on how to make things happen.
EDIT:
Have a read of this page - launch control....

I have tried using the Launch control by disconnecting ESP and in S mode (or manual mode) foot on brake but when I rev the R36 wants to move forward instead of actually sitting there Revving until I take the brake off
I have phoned my 2 local Volkswaqon service centres (Klosters and Hunter Maitland) and both will not activate it and Yesterday phoned a few around Sydney and they claimed it is Illegal and wont activate it, (But if this is true why do some of the new v8 Commodores come standard with Launch control)

Mines 08 and has it. Make sure the car is at operating temp as it won't work otherwise
Mine is 2010 and has LC, works well. Below are some instructions I found ages ago. My advice is you need to apply the brakes hard and FYI my Launch RPM has usually been around 2800. Hope this helps
o Put your foot on the brake
o Put the DSG into S or Manual
o Hold down the ESP to turn it off.
o Leaving your foot on the brake, press the accelerator to get the desired revs.
o - There should be no forward pressure being placed against the brakes, because the clutch is engaged.
o - You are limited to 3000rpm to protect the gearbox and drivetrain. Although you are limited at 3000rpm, at least in the GTI, lower revs are often the optimal launch point (especially with Stage I or II).
o Once you are at the desired revs and ready to go, lift your foot off the brake.
o The clutch will engage and you'll be off on your way with a very short delay

I believe the oil temp needs to be at 75deg, it works fine in my 08 too. I dont think it would need to be coded because it should be on by factory. First time i used it i thought the time between release brake and actually launching was a bit long (1-2secs), i think mine held at 3000rpm too and i have read with a DSG retune you can have that up to 4500rpm.
