The iPhone cannot stream audio via bluetooth. It's bluetooth capabilities are woefully sub par. The firmware upgrade coming soon may address this.

The iPhone Bluetooth is FANTASTIC since yesterday - after the 3.0 upgrade!!! It streams the stereo sound beatifully to my amps at home & my stereo bluetooth headset. So, definitely not the iphone problem.

Actually, is the $700 bluetooth has the bluetooth audio capability?

I have just got an r36 with the 700 dollar bluetooth kit, and I cant get my iphone to work. It recognizes the car on my phone and asks for the code and accepts it but when I go to make a call it doesnt go through the speakers.I then tried my brothers nokia and it works perfectly. I have also done the 3.0 upgrade on my iphone. Any advice?

When the iPhone is paired and connected and when a call is made / received the iPhone will come up on the screen with a button to control the sound that is using, i.e. speaker, Bluetooth. What is that set to when you are making a call?

    mmm
I have the 3.0 software... and have no problems...
Mmm weird... so it paired fine - but doesn't go through the speakers?!!!

I can even be on my iPhone (using the handset) and walk over to my car - start it up - and it automatically transfers it to the car speakers!
It works the other way too - using the car set up and turn the car off and it automatically goes back to the handset.

I did read somewhere that someone was having trouble with a second phone - like I was - and the rumour was that it only allowed to pair with one phone at a time... despite the paperwork saying you can pair up to 7 with it?!?!

Mmm does your iPhone select the VW bluetooth system on your iPhone?
I think it should have a tick next to it - when it is in the car?
Sounds like your phone isn't automatically giving up the call if you have paired it successfully.

    Hi HMG,

I know this is an old post, hope you can still help.

Did you ever fix your problem re no sound going thru the speakers.

I have the EXACT same issue - my iPhone 3GS (Version 3.1.2) pairs successfully, syncs all contacts to the MFD (2010 white version) and shows as available via the RNS-510.

I simply cannot hear anything from the car speakers.

The installers (Volkspower) have had no luck getting sound from the speakers & I have read that the VW Premium BT Kit requires rSAP which the iPhone does not support.

I am in "totally buggered city" at the moment.

Hopefully you or anyone else reading this thread can help.

    Cheers,
    Geoff.

What BT Kit did you buy?

I emailed STU (octavia-rs) and he replied very quickly with some wiring instructions which I will pass onto the installers.
