VW Passat 2007 103TDI DSG Issues

    Hi All

I recently bought a 2nd hand VW Passat 103tdi (1 month ago) and have been experiencing a couple of issues with the DSG gearbox.

Its jerky when reversing and on take off it can't make up its mind whether to use 1st gear and 2nd gear.

I've been through the posts/threads and it seems that a lot of people have had this issue and it seems to be the Mechatronic Unit.

The car is still under the 3 months statutory warranty from a non VW dealer.

    Questions:

    1. How much would such a unit cost?
    2. Would this item be covered under the statutory warranty?
    3. What else could it be?

    Thank You

Definitely Mechatronics unit. Not sure how you will go with the "statutory warranty" I have not had experience with that sort of warranty but I think they are only for major mechanical failures etc. Good luck.

Root cause could depend on the kind of jerkiness you're talking about. I have ongoing issues with my R36 which I would describe as shuddering on take off (feels like something is out of balance). I've had the mechatronics replaced and new clutches installed - neither of which has so far fixed the problem. The mechanics speculated that the problem could be a fault in the dual mass flywheel.

A number of people have reported the issue you describe. In fact, there is a whole website about DSG issues (DSGwoes)
