    Voice Control

    Hi all

Has anyone here actually got the "Voice Control" to work in any fashion at all?

Yes, thats all good, it responds with repeat "say again" messages and then decides it can't understand me and quits. Regardless of the instruction I seek, never works.

    Does yours?

Passat R36: now that's interesting! A couple of us here tried to do the same thing for the Golf mk VII without success. After much discussion, we concluded that enabling voice control needed both a VCDS tweak and additional software. Your post suggests that we may have been mistaken! Are you prepared to share how you did it?

Hi guys, I dont even have a RNS510 in my R36, only RCD510.

Regarding the Voice Control, I remember I read something on the web regarding this. So it was just a thought.

Anyway, here is one the link I read:
Volkswagen RNS 510 Microphone Connection for voice control | my-gti.com

Assume you guys have the microphone installed properly.

I just replaced my RNS510 with a brand new version from JKU a few weeks ago, so I know its not that, and I replaced the BT unit with the new 9W7 unit as well, so its not that either.

All BT, phone, music functions work as advertised so I must assume the mic is connected.

Plus, I can get to the stage whereby the VC asks me to voice-tag an item, I say the word, it pauses, asks me to repeat, I say it again - slower and clearer, it pauses, and says that it cannot recognise the word...

I assume the * button on the MFSW is VC related too? If I push that button all audio is muted and nothing happens?

    Any ideas... anyone?

I had the same issue. You have to wire the BT microphone so it goes through the head unit first, not the BT module.

There was a photo showing the BT connection configuration, but I no longer seem to have it. I'm sure I got it from this forum, but I'm not sure.

Sounds like this is your issue.

After wiring the microphone correctly, my worked fine.
