    Unleaded in a Diesel

The missus just gave me a call to say she accidentally filled the tank with 600mL of unleaded before filling the rest of the tank with diesel.

Should be a problem if it's that diluted right?

600ml wouldn't concern me if it's diluted in 50L of diesel.

I would be concerned. If you're absolutely positive its only 600ml in 50+ litres then its definitely at the lower end of the risk scale. Monitor closely, as by now I'm assuming you've already driven it?

Just continuously keep topping up the tank for this week, you will dilute it to nothing in no time.

It should be fine I think
older diesels could actually run on unleaded for short period

But I'd imagine pure unleaded fuel would detonate in the piezo electric chamber costing millions of dollars to replace.

Actually... I just figured Hydrocarbon don't burn without oxygen so your piezo injector should be fine...

Thanks everyone. She drove it home with no ill affects.
Called the guys at VAG Australia who confirmed won't be an issue.

Much more likely to melt the exhaust impeller in your turbo due to soaring EGTs, but at such a low dilution I agree there would be no ill affect.
