    UK power ratings

I have been looking at the various VW sites around the world

    US, UK , German...

Just seeing what the price/specs options are and I was very confused by the UK site power rating of PS.. never heard of it.

PS - This unit (German : Pferdestärke = horse strength) is no longer a statutory unit, but is still commonly used in Europe, South America and Japan, especially by the automotive and motorcycle industry. It was adopted throughout continental Europe with designations equivalent to the English "horsepower", but mathematically different from the British unit. It is defined by the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB)[1] in Braunschweig as exactly:

    1 PS = 75 kp·m/s = 0.73549875 kW = 0.9863201652997627 hp (SAE)
Thanks to wilipedia I now know...

The other thing that while odd to me, is not surprising... NO diesels in the US.

So the humble nag was not as strong in the mother land compared to England, by .0113% !

Nice research. Have you noticed any other differences in power or torque?

The 2.0 125kw unit has exact same power/torque spec in UK, Germany and OZ... not surprising really.

I priced up an equivlent Passat to the one I bought and converted it fron Euro to OZ dollars and it came out at around $59K... not sure if there would be any VAT on that though... My car was around $58K RRP inc ORC so similar pricing.
