    Tyre wear

Have just replaced the tyres on my R36 wagon. The first set were Yokohama Advan V103 which lasted a mere 15,000km. After them I tried Michelin PS3s and manged 27,000km. What mileage have other R36 owners been able to achieve?

obviously different car... but i did have a little interaction with a Tyre garage today - after noticing a HUGE nail jammed into a rear tyre i made my way to a garage near by who looked at it - luckily no puncture.

However they did tell me to change my fronts which i purchased from them late last year (conti 3's) and have only done 15000kms. my previous set of conti 2's did almost 40,000... i asked why the crappy result from the conti3's and he suggested maybe it was the wrong tyre for the car. (even though they are one of the standard models coming out of the factory?)

anyway - no more conti's for me! i hope that narrows down your choice a little.

Both the Yokys and the Michelins are both excellent tyres when it comes to grip and handling. Went through a set of the V102's and 2 sets of the V103's on my GTR although I got more than 15000 kms out if them. Currently have Bridgestone RE40's on the R36 which were on the car when I bought it and have done approx 20000kms and would've done a lot more if it weren't for the uneven wear. A lot also depends on the type of driving you do, mine includes a lot of hwy which would probably increase the mileage. Just out of curiosity how did the PS3's compare to the V102's in regards to handling and road noise, I find the Bridgestone's can get a little noisy but as they're the only tyres I've had on the R36 I've got nothing to compare them with.
In terms of tyre wear you'll find most of the high performance tyres will wear quite quickly compared to most of the cheaper ones.

The obvious answer is almost twice the mileage. as per the difference for wet and dry performance and noise, hmm unless you are pushing the absolute limit virtually none. however I would say the PS3s were slightly quieter.
