Thank you all. Now a simple toss up between R002 & CSC3. F1's don't sound like what I am looking for given driving conditions & style but thanks to everyone.

Pirelli pzero's, about 250 each and awesome grip + wear, had mine for around 20k and still more than 50% tread left

They're also a fraction of the cost compared to any of those top rated tyres. The CSC5's will probably cost toward $400/tyre. PS3's are $300+ and the CSC5's are a higher grade tyre. Eagle F1's are around $250/tyre.

Need to be careful drawing conclusions from that UK tyre review site
Read some of the actual reviews from contributors, many are seriously flawed
The statistics they produce from small samples are nearly worthless
Statistics from large samples are a half decent general guide

For example, the PS3 is comfort rated at 85% and the Eagle F1 at 92%
I've had both on the front of my Skoda Octavia (similar to Golf MK5/6 front end)
I would reverse those ratings in heartbeat - the Eagle F1 makes a fair bit more road noise

The PS3 is also wear rated at only 76% which is way off the mark in my view (too many reviewers using them on track days?)

At the end of the day, $ per km with safety and fun
I have to agree with RubAVeeDubDub - F1's are very hard to beat (at present)
2012.1 Skoda Octavia VRS DSG Wagon - Carbonio cold air intake and pipe - HPA Motorsports BBK 355mm rotors 6 pot calipers
APR Stage II ECU - APR 3" exhaust down pipe & high flow catalyst
APR/HP Roll bars - Eibach springs and Bilstien shocks
