Transferring music from SD card to RNS510

    Hi Everyone,

I am having alot of trouble transferring music from my PC to the car via SD card. I am using itunes (not sure if that has something to do with it) and it seems that the car does not recognise music that has been originally downloaded from CD, but recognises stuff I have downloaded through limewire etc. Different format perhaps?

After mucking around with it for a while, the SD card is no longer being read - a message appears on the RNS 510 saying that there is an error with the SD card.

    Any suggestions?

you probably need to re-format the sd card to get it to work. best do this in windows explorer. right click over card and down the bottom is the format option.

i have been able to copy music in mp3 format without probs but i dont use itunes so cant comment.

for cd's you need to "rip" them to mp3 in windows and resave to either the sd card or even a cd rom to copy to the hd.

i now have the complete michael jackson & lots of steve wonder collection on the HD.
had a passat tdi. now mb c class.

if using iTunes, you need to right click on the song, and select create MP3 version, it will create an MP3 version in the same spot on the hard drive that the original song is, if you then right click again, and then select show in windows explorer it will open a window where the song is which you can cut from there and paste to your SD card. to do whole albums just highlight the whole album and follow steps above. I would do as advised above as well and reformat the SD card first.

you could make itunes rip music in mp3 format rather than aac or what ever the apple format is. Also the SD card has to be Fat16 formatted as noted above
