For those awaiting a MY10 order - read on

There has been a lot of confusion re MY10 changes here lately which has crossed over into irritated peeps canceling their orders even as their vehicle is about to land in OZ. Most of the annoyances have been related to the late changes to the MY10 spec and whether it was the fault of VW / VWA / or Dealers --- no-one is stepping 4wd to accept the blame.

It seems that one of the main issues has been the separation of the reverse cam from the satnav as an integrated option. I believe that the reverse cam is still not an option on the sedan which seems as bizarre as white R36's have to have a sunroof !

Based on the rumour that there is a swag of ordered MY10 R36 wagons shipping without the revcam I made some enquiries today. My dealer confirmed that there had been 3 cancellations this week and was quite prepared to allow me to cancel my order without hassle (in contrast to another member here who struggled to extricate himself) and was quite open in saying their was a "stuff-up" in the order process between MY09 & MY10 options. I might add that the opening gambit was that I could a: cancel the order b: reorder with the options I wanted (add 5-6 months to the 4 mths I have already waited) or c: take the car without the camera. There was no offer at this stage of compensation even tho if I was delivered satnav without the camera they made an extra $500 --- fair enuf I guess as push had not come to shove yet. I was advised that it was "highly likely" that my car would be under specced and am awaiting confirmation from my dealer.

On the recommendation of another member here I rang a salesman in Sydney to see what was available if I needed to cancel my order. He kindly explained that when VW made the camera as a separate option it required an additional tick in the order list. As MY09's it came standard but some dealers didn't see that they had to tick the sub box when ordering MY10 builds. As it cant be retro-fitted they ordered cars with the cam but without the satnav that can be post factory installed - their logic being that for $500 most buyers would want the camera.

I gave him my VIN and within 20 secs he had located my car, when it was built, current transport status and .... what was included !!! Joy oh joy -- mine is built as ordered prolly due to the fact that my contract clearly stated "satnav with revcam". I checked with another member here and his order just said "satnav" so I assume that at some point between the 09 and 10 order sheets the cam option appeared & only some dealers noticed the change.

There seems to be a whole swag of MY10 options that are not "offered" to us June/July/Aug buyers which has diluted my VW experience.

I told this guy that he should join this forum as he was helpful and amenable. He said that he was thinking of joining to help ppl out & I welcomed his involvement. With his permission --- his name is Beamm and he is with McGrath in Sutherland NSW (I am from Melb) --- if you are being "mushroomed" give this guy a call. Yes. he may make more sales but he did what I asked without obligation and his honesty was refreshing

    Cheers

I seem to recall a similar issue when the first batch of R36s landed.

I ordered mine in Jan 08, and I am sure a number on here who were waiting found out that the reverse camera had not been fitted....

I didn't order the Satnav/Rev Camera, but others on here may recall the problems were due to someone not ticking a box for Oz specc'd cars, and the first batch missed out entirely on the cameras?

    Does anyone else remember this?

Confirmed Global Warming Sceptic. No Longer a VW Owner -Loving my new 2011 Range Rover Sport - bought as VW unable to provide info on the new Toureg despite it being released overseas 12 mths ago. 2008 R36 Wagon, 2006 GTI and 2004 R32 - Gone. Sorry VW, you make great cars but until you improve your customers' experiences you will lose customers

Mine came with nav but no camera (which I'm not fussed about).

I was charged only for the nav and not the extra $$$ for the camera.

    Yeah Jon,
The first ordered R36 Wagons that came @ June 08 did NOT have the Rev Cam attached.
There should be something about it on the forums somewhere. Steve (S.A.) was one guy whom i remember who didn't get it...think he worked something out with his dealer. But that was when the Cam was included(well meant to be) with the RNS510.

I ordered an R36 Wagon on 18/07/2009 with Sunroof and SATNAV RVC on my contract. After reading the MY10 discussions on this forum I called the dealer to confirm that my car will have a reversing camera - I can confirm that it will!. Unfortunately I can't confirm if the dealer did check a separate box for the RVC.

My car arrived in Melbourne on the Toreador October 2nd, I am led to believe the car is going through "compliance" before being delivered to the dealer mid next week for some pre-delivery additions. So should be driving the car within 2 weeks. Hooray!

I am disappointed that I never had the opportunity to check the option box in particular, that being the Adaptive Suspension. I would really like this option but after waiting almost 3 months just can't be bothered canceling my order and waiting for a new car to be delivered. There is definite a communication problem somewhere along the line at Volkswagen - the dealers I have spoken to really don't know as much as they should about the product they are selling. Is VW Germany not informing VW Australia, VW Australia not informing the dealers or are the dealers just being lazy?.........only then know. Either way I have much less confidence in the people selling me the car than I do in the actual car!

I'm a big fan of this forum and have found it extremely useful for building my knowledge base about the car and what I should expect from Volkswagen and the dealers - thanks everyone.

Hopefully I pick up the car in a couple of weeks and enjoy driving it as much as I expect I will!

Yeah - my dealer rang me this morning and also confirmed my revcam. It seems that if it was on the contract as an option it got ordered - if not specifically stated it seems you missed out

I dont know whether it is laziness or lack of communication but there are a lot of options now available that I would have considered if given the choice. Several people here asked dealers directly whether there were new options for the MY10 --- we were all told "no changes" which is now patently wrong.

Thats cruel.....I'm in Sydney and the dealer I went to had 5 R36's pre-ordered with no customer locked in - he didn't have the spec's I wanted so swapped one of his cars for one a dealer in Melbourne had pre-ordered. Hence the Melbourne Port drop off.

When i was picking up my R36 from the dealer yesterday they had an MY10 R36 Wagon in blue in the showroom ready for delivery.

I can confirm that inside the car, the standard car is identical to the MY09. Only changes is the options list.

On the outside of the car the only change was the different tyres, the Continentals identical to those on the Passat CC

PS and no supercharger under the bonnet
