    Starting Problem R36

Hey guys not sure if im in the right section or not so admins you can move thread elsewhere.

Iv'e recently taken hold of a 2009 Passat R36 and only about 2 days ago. When i go to start it, It sometimes wont kick over right away and it will take a good 10 or so seconds to kick over. It doesnt happen in the mornings but mid afternoon or late afternoon if i havent driven it it wont start right away.

Is it just a simple case of the battery on its way out or is there another thing tha might be causing it to do what it has been??

    Thanks
    Chris

Might be worth getting a multimeter and checking the battery voltage. Can pick one up for a few bucks if you don't already have one.

The way you're describing it, it sounds as if there's not enough voltage/battery is dieing, so yeah, it's probably just a new battery.

When you say that it takes 10 seconds to kick over, can you hear the engine cranking, or do you hear silence? How much do the idiot lights dim while this is happening?

Do you know how old the battery is in your car? If it's still on its original battery, then it may well be on its last legs.

Yea the engine is cranking as im pressing the key in. and the lights don't dim or anything.

Not sure in the age of the battery. Iv'e booked it in with 'Prestige & Performance' in Brisbane for a complete service, so will get it all checked out then. Will be driving down to Sydney soon so i dont want anything to go wrong while int he middle of nowhere lol
