ST Wietec (KW) springs

Hi guys, just to let you know, if you are thinking of lowering your Passat R36 with ST Wietec (KW) springs, think twice, they claim a 20 mm drop but it didn't drop my car at all, it seems to be just the same (at best). Maybe the H&R option is better, any feedback would be great.

I thought the R36 was already lower compared to other B6s? Would those springs be saying it's a rated 20mm drop compared to a standard B6 ride height?

Most springs from Germany are rated as above, on a base model.

No it claims to be an extra 20mm drop for the R36's (which are already 15mm lower than the standard B6's). I'm going HR, I'll let you know how it goes. I might add, I just put in new Bilstein B8 sprint shocks as well, which they say prefer a lowered spring.

The B7 FSI is 15mm lower to begin with (similarly in line to other models with an R-Line spec pack)
The B6 R36 is 25mm lower to start.

I did some measuring a few weeks back to my B7 TDI Highline as I was researching for lowering my springs and what I recall was a 15mm drop would halve the current air gap between the tyre tread to the edge of the wheel rim. 30mm would have had minimal air gap between tyre and rim.

Sounds bizarre to me that you would get much left in terms of suspension travel if the tyre was ~15mm under the rim with those springs and lowering a R36 by another 20mm (total 45mm less than base)

To be honest, the look of the gap, it's about roughly stock height which a R36 runs on. I suspect what's described is that it's a 20mm drop from base model ride height and what you were sold was poorly/incorrectly described against a R36 installation.
