And since so many people seem to mis-interpret my posts, I added that bit so there was ZERO chance of it happening this time. I say what I say - even if it is wrong (which I never care about anyway). People don't have to like or agree with it but it'd be nice if they accepted it rather than treating it as a personal attack. After all, I accept what other people say, even if I don't always like or agree with it. They're entitled to their opinion - even if it is wrong! LOL

And if you missed the joke, I can't do anything about that!

Anyway, back to one of your points, example is quite flawed. There are any number of things that could have been done to avoid a crash resulting from those circumstances. And even with regard to the "component failure" argument regarding "crash or accident", the manufacturer of the part that failed could have taken action to avoid the resulting crash, or someone who inspected it and signed off on it, someone who signed off on the vehicle being roadwothy. As unfortunate and unlucky as all crashes are, they are never accidents. There is ALWAYS something that could have been done to prevent it.

[edit] and I will admit I missed the part about it being for Victoria only. Makes more sense now but there's still a lot of advice on that website that should be taken with a grain of salt.

I suppose this is really a question of where each and everyone of us has their own boundaries.

People with R36's obviously like to go fast (or faster than some others) but that doesn't mean we all speed, or speed all the time. Some like to drift around roundabouts and others are horrified at the idea! People with diesels obviously are all about economy and torque (and other practical things I cant think of not having one or a matching cardigan).

Being a contributor to this forum really means the only thing we ALL have in common is an great enthusiasm bought together by our current choice of wheels. To my mind, I think we can all respect each others opinion and object as passionately as one sees fit to the current discussion we will all enjoy the ride.

As soon as you think the other guy is a d***head, don't let is phase you....he or she is probably thinking the same thing about you!

Funny, I was saying to a guy at work today, if you think one person is an idiot, they probably are, if you think 2 people are idiots, they could be, but if you think 10 people are, it's not them....

    Rocket

If my example is flawed - then who is responsible for the crash/MVA ???
    • The car maker for lack of ESP
    • The lighter for not gripping in my hand properly
    • The girl for distracting my lap area
    • The beer manufacturer for having a mon-slip can
    • The bong maker for making that model difficult to light
    • The road authority for poor road design
    • etc etc etc

So many other factors can come into play that that list can be tripled.

Many accidents can be avoided but there are too many that are contributed to by circumstances beyond the individuals competency or circumstances.

    Back on topic:

Have we any views on the effectiveness on radar detectors ? And why are they banned ?

    Cheers

i have a Wistler in my car and i had radar detectors for the last 5 years. They are legal in WA and i think they work well. They do take a bit of time to get used to, they will beep at petrol stations, and other things that have self opening doors. Mine beeps at only one Toyota dealer every time i drive past, and they have normal doors for ther showroom
