    Speaker replacement

Hi guys i was looking at up grading my R36 sound system. I dont want to fork out a load of money however i would like to get better sound than the standard set up. First thing i would like to do is replace the speakers than the amp and finally add a sub. I have seen fusion speakers for sale on ebay, however they are for a standard Passat. Would anyone know if there ard the same size? Here is a link to the speakers. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FUSION-EN-...:X:RTQ:GB:1123

Ideally i would like to do a straight swap with focals however they only make them for GTIs. Ideas and suggestions would be appreciated.

    Thanks

The ebay link doesn't work, but I have experienced Fusion speakers a couple of years ago and was very disappointed in their sound quality. The one's I had were a lot worse than the R36 stock speakers.

As for the size, I would recommend taking your door panel off and measuring the room for the current speaker, and make sure you measure how much depth you have available as aftermarket speakers can be a lot deeper and not fit.

I replaced my std speakers with the Dynaudio versions and it was well worth it. Its not a cheap exercise, but the sound quality improvement is massive.

I have a spare pair of front Dynaudio tweeters if you'd like... they cost me $200.00 and its a plug & play swapover. PM me if you're interested.

The Dynaudio front door speakers are around $800.00 for the pair, but when you hole the original speakers and the Dynaudio versions, you can see (and hear) where the money has gone.

Then you'll need the rear door woofers and tweeters done as well, think in terms of around $500.00 for both doors - again, its plug & play.

Roughly what was the Dynaudio replacement exercise worth? I'm keen to investigate this after settling for a non Dynaudio R36 and regretting it ever since!

Did you also replace the amp?

    Cheers

Focal are a nice option for VWs. They do some good 3 way components the 165s from memory and they go for around 600 per set

I think I paid about $200.00 for the front tweeters, $800.00 for the front composite units, $200.00 for the rear woofers and $150.00 for the rear tweeters. Didn't do the amp, way too much hassle with loom installation, plus the loom was around $500.00 from JKM in QLD.

The standard amp is loud enough for me anyway. Overall, I'm more than pleased with the cost vs result...

I was under the impression that, for the R36 at least, the Dynaudio amp is a plug and play replacement. Is your Passat one of the ones that had the 8-speaker stereo, without a separate amp under the driver's seat?

Mine has an amp under the passenger seat I think?

Having said that, I've had a bit of a look on the interwebs, and I couldn't find much in the way of Dynaudio gear to replace my current setup? I saw something from Ireland on eBay, but to me these looked like the the wrong sizes?
