Do you think the tune will be noticeable / significant / negligent??
It's not the power I'm concerned with it's the torque. A 30Nm increase would noticable but what more important is to alter the point at which the torque actually kicks in. In the stock R36 it arrives at 2400rpm. It would be ideal if this was reduced to 1900-2000. If this can be done along with the 30Nm increase the performance would be quite noticably improved.

As for negligent, hardly. If you first question whether it would even be noticable then how could it possibly be negligent. If it was a huuuuge increase then maybe negligence would be a consideration.

I've modified plenty of the cars I've had in one form or another. If it's done right and with a proper understanding of the vehicle then you should have no concerns.
Companies like evolve-technic do Porsches, Ferraris and other cars of that stature. They understand what the owner requires and how to deliver it in a way that will not harm the vehicle.
These guys aren't back yarders doing shonky mods on a 20yo VL turbo or some other clapped out POS.

    Cheers

Negligent doesn't make any sense... negligible, surely!

    Negligent read Negligible!

    Yeah, someone saw my typo!

By negligible, I mean not noticeable anywhere other than on the dyno.

30Nm across the rev range would be noticeable (hence not negligent ), but 30Nm over a narrow band (say 5000-6500rpm) may not be.

The satisfaction guarantee seems to be genuine (spoke to Neil at revolve today) so I guess its a no-jeopardy situation. Money back - no questions asked.

Anyone interested in a group buy on the tune only?

Neil will be happy to be receiving a number of enquiries for their work. The more interested parties that contact him the better it could be for everyone pricewise.

    Hi all,

As Neil mentioned in post #36, it would be helpful for someone to bring in their R36 so he can conduct an inspection of the exhaust system to determine where improvements, if any, can be made.

Is there a Melbourne owner who would be happy to have their R36's exhaust system inspected in order to see what improvements can be made? It would be greatly appreciated.

    Please PM me.

    Cheers

Sean, took the R36 down to evolve technik today and had a lengthy discussion with Neil and Peter. They put the car up took all the photograpphs of the exhaust that they needed and were going to have a talk to miltek about altering the exhaust system to provide a better note and see if there was anyroom for power increase. As far as the ecu upgrade, they said they can do it now, but im looking at doing the two togather. ive also asked them to furthur investigate the possibillity of a turbo as HPA motorsport have already introduced in germany. They have contact in Germany and will do futher investigations for R36 upgrades.

there going to contact me back with information regarding the exhaust, and ill keep you informed.

    Cheers
    Hope this helps

Mate, you're a rockstar. Many thanks.

I saw the HPA turbo on the net last night and emailed Neil. Glad we're on the same page.

    How old is your R36?

    Cheers

Just to also let you know, Peter took us for a spin in his 2.0T jetta which had had an ECU tune, and a miltek exhaust system which was now outputting close to 190kw... very nice , then also went for a drive in his 335i which had the stage 2 ecu tune as advertised on their site and boosted it up to 280kw, you can definitly feel the difference in acceleration in the low ends and the extra grunt given to the cars.

Where's a URL for the HPA turbo kit? I can only find information about their turbo kits for 3.2 engines...
